At the time attack menu, choose the records option. Then choose Ruby Cup. Then hold L and press R, A, Z, A, C-up, C-Left, A, C-Down, R, Z. You will then be taken to the password screen.
Also known as ''snaking'', in order to go faster push L+Left then R+Right repeatedly to gain speed. This trick is difficult, but it can give you the edge in those expert races. Note that too much use of this can acctually hurt your hands. You have to be on or near Max Acceleration for snaking to work.
Retire at least 5 other racers during a single race to gain an extra life. This only works once per race try (that is, if you retire, retry, go into the Settings menu, or move on to the next track, you can do it again). This is undeniably useful in the Master Class where you only have 2 tries.
During a replay. You can push the L and R triggers to change the music to any of the character theme songs that you have unlocked. This can be done at any point during the replay.
It is possible to make either the Paper Craft (with parts Speedy Dragon, Garnet Phantom, and Euros-01) and the Maximum Dragon (with parts Speedy Dragon, Maximum Star, and Sunrise 140) fly and skip over large sections of several courses. To do so, set them to full acceleration and find a method of falling off the track. As you fall, hold right on the joystick and R or left on the joystick and L, and move in semicircles in the air back and forth to move across the course while remaining aloft. This enables you to float over the hidden checkpoints in the various tracks allowing you to cheat and skip most of the track for an easy win.
Staff Ghosts (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Diamond Cups)
If you complete a course in Time Attack with a fast enough time, that course's Staff Ghost will be unlocked in the store for purchase (and you will earn 10 tickets). You must finish the course within ten seconds of the staff ghost time; for example, if the Staff Ghost finished a course in 1:50, your time will have to be 2:00 or less to unlock the Ghost. Below are all of the non-AX cup tracks, and the times you will need to finish them in to unlock the Ghost (NOT the Ghost's personal time). To activate a Staff Ghost once you unlock it, choose "Load Ghost" at the Course Select screen, as if you were loading one of your own Ghosts. Also of note: You get 25 tickets if you manage to beat a Staff Ghost.

If you get 1st place on each course in Master Class Grand Prix, you can unlock some cool movies (depending on what character you use. Note you can't use a custom machine.)
